Hi friends,
Sorry you haven’t heard from me in a while. I err.. skipped the last issue, but I hope this one makes up for it. Here are the 5 best things I’ve found in the meantime. I hope they are inspiring and/or useful for you!
1. Becoming a Magician
Not only is any sufficiently advanced technology indistinguishable from magic; any sufficiently advanced technologist seems like a magician. In order to write the new version of this life description, I need to imagine a version of myself who, by definition, I cannot understand. If I understood her she wouldn’t be magical.
I am completely wow’d by this essay. A 14-year-old girl fantasizes about her adult life, and discovers, 10 years later, that 90% of it came true. Mysteriously, she imagines herself as "somebody she couldn't quite comprehend", “= somebody who seemed magical to her.”
And the anonymous author observes that we all appear magical to each other in large and subtle ways.
As someone who has a well-defined felt sense of how various foods affects their body, and can cook simple, healthy food well, I can seem like a magician to someone lacking a similar mental framework who ricochets between spartan self-denial and uncontrollable junk binges.

2. The 100x Razor
When I find something that inspires me, I ask myself: "How can I make this 100x better?" "How can I improve the editing by 100x?" "How can I be 100x more creative?" "How can I put in 100x more effort"?
MrBeast’s razor (= a tool to narrow the number of choices so as to make better decisions) for creating consistently original and compelling videos, such as his first viral video where he filmed himself for 40 hours counting from 1 to 100,000:
3. Crazy is a numbers game.
Like if enough people do it— then it’s not crazy anymore.
4. That’s what the days are for. That’s what the days are for.
Freedom = being able to turn to a loved one and say: “Forget work today, let’s run away and go to the beach, eat peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, and make sandcastles!”
5. Amazing Dance Choreography.
Thanks for reading!
Please forward this to any super cool friends you know! ツ
...i have to give kudos to tiktok for this at least...we are growing up in no doubt the greatest generation of choreographed dancing...
That 14-yr old. Marvellous. Welcome back! And that dance number was amazing, as was the simplicity of the set
