Borrow from your future self. This cannot be over emphasized! Money, but also health and time. This was a great point.

What a great way to pass on value and facilitate connections by introducing someone this way. And great inspiration from Azul.

Awesome piece, Leo. I remember reading about this a while back, when you provided a link to a document with some notes on Azul’s advice to you. Love the “finished product” here. :)

Pretty good advice from Azul. I retired at 52. I say, retire as early as you can unless you have a job you absolutely love. I love owning my own time, waking up when I want, and spending the day doing exactly what I want. After all, this is the only life you will ever have so time is your most precious asset, not money or stuff. Don't waste it doing something you don't enjoy and don't need to be doing. I spend my time focusing on my body, exercising through many activities that I love, and eating healthy, so hopefully I can extend my time alive with many quality years. At 58 I am in the best shape of my life and can outperform physically most 20 somethings. Unfortunately retiring in your early 50's may be out of reach for a lot of young people today due to poor financial habits. Don't get caught up in consumerism and peer pressure to waste money on unnecessary stuff or fancy things to impress others, only buy what you need, and start investing as early as you can. I have always had a frugal mindset but it did not feel like much of a sacrifice. I traveled plenty and have been all over the world, but I traveled on a budget and even tent camped a lot having fantastic experiences like waking up to incredible sceneries and having kangaroos hopping around my tent. I would not trade that for staying in some fancy hotel which in my opinion is just a complete waste of money.
