Dear Reader,
Safe passage to Amsterdam. Quiet, beautiful, peaceful- like Luxembourg. I will spend a month here in the Netherlands. Recommendations are appreciated! 🙏
The Dutch are known for (1) Windmills (2) Tulips 🌷 (3) Wooden Shoes. Tallest country in the world with adult men averaging 6ft. Get ready to pedal 🚴♂️. I’ve seen more bicycles than people + cars combined. Hollandse Nieuwe — raw herring served with white onions and pickle — is great.
How should I finish my year of travel? What countries would you like to see? Help me decide…
Help Me Decide (Poll)
Option A:
July: Istanbul + 2 days in Iraq
August: Scandinavia, 1 week in Norway, Denmark, Sweden, & Finland
Motivation: Stepping stones. Istanbul prepared me for Iraq. I like going to places no one has been before. I like pushing myself.
Option B:
July: London
August: Boston, USA
Motivation: The reason I travel so much is to discover what I like. Well, now I know what I like. I like big cities and modern cafes. I don’t like road trips or riding a camel in the desert. Why London? Because USA citizens can stay 90 days visa-free in the Schengen area. And London is excluded. Another month in the EU means I’ll be effectively banned from the region for the next 3 months. Why Boston? Because I tell people I’m from there, yet I know nothing about the city. Maybe now it’s time to learn.

Hi Ariel,
This is Henk from WoP.
Utrecht (my city) is pretty good, and only a half hour train ride from Amsterdam. It would be nice to meet up. I could show you around, if you want.
I wrote some pieces on Dutch culture and history that you might find enlightening:

Amaterdam is such a beautiful city. Hope you got to enjoy some french fries with mayo!
